About the authorDr. Patricia Tsang was born in Hong Kong and grew up in San Francisco. She received her M.D. from UCSF in 1963. She became interested in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) when as a third year medical student she contracted pneumonia followed by an intractable cough that wasn’t helped by drugs but finally was cured with Chinese herbs. She studied TCM at the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1981 and then continued studying under the tutelage of Dr. Yat Ki Lai, L.Ac., O.M.D. She writes from her personal experience as a practitioner who effectively treated patients using an integration of her dual Eastern and Western training, long before integrative medicine acquired a name. She has written articles on TCM in San Francisco Medicine and lectured to both health care professionals and the lay public.
